After the excellent reception of their updated Holmes design, Consolidated Mecha engineers began to look for a way to incorporate their new technologies into a niode chassis for a new mecha. Wanting to capitalize on the recent favorable press about their line of mecha, they put all other projects on hold so they could produce the Buccaneer.
The Buccaneer was developed during the technological Renaissance of the early 3300's and the design is a product of this era of cooperation among the clans and the major powers. With the extra resources available to the Consolidated Mecha engineers, they were able to meet the design parameters as well as complete the project on time and under budget. Company executives were so impressed with the Buccaneer, they promised one to every employee as a show of appreciation for their hard work under pressure.

The Buccaneer employs the Type 6 A.I., a solid A.I. that Consolidated Mecha incorporates into several of their designs. Cocooned in a high-density niode matrix, the Type 6 produces optimal firing solutions for laser weaponry that enables it to exceed basic factory damage thresholds. This gives the Buccaneer a notable edge in battle, but the true gem in this build for the Type 6 is the highly detailed target analysis the pilot can activate. When this feature is activated, the pilot can place a single penetrating shot in a vulnerable joint or weakened armor plate that can completely destroy an otherwise undamaged target. This version of the Type 6 will support three upgrade modules for mission required add-ons.
Named for the device from Earth's industrial revolution, the Cogwerk Steam Hammer is the ideal power plant for the Buccaneer. The Steam Hammer can instantly overcharge the weapon systems to produce powerful blasts from any weapon.
As the niode matrices are upgraded, the power plant provides a considerable boost to speed. Command mecha need to maneuver effectively across a large battlefield to coordinate troop movements and direct fire, so the Buccaneer's speed makes it an appealing option for that roll. To further enhance mobility, the Steam Hammer is fitted with three equipment ports to install additional equipment.
The Buccaneer has an imposing profile for a 40 ton mecha due to space requirements for the Steam Hammer and mount emitters for the defensive systems. This mecha was also designed to be roving unit, so the engineers added shielding against area effect attacks such as splash and trample. The pair of heavy shield modules can be customized by the pilot to suit the needs in various situations.
As the first factory run of the Buccaneer began production, Consolidated Mecha was approached by the Shogunate's Prince of Flowers. Knowing that he would soon be facing the rogue General Fujiwara and his army, the Prince of Flowers needed to strengthen his own forces with additional supplies. The mercenary clans he persuaded to fight under his banner were a part of the solution but he also needed additional mecha for his own pilots.
After seeing the Buccaneer prototype in action, the Prince asked to pilot it himself. He was so impressed with the design that he purchased the entire first manufacturing run to supply his fledgling armed forces. As is often the case, a few of the savvy supply sergeants for a few mercenary clans managed to procure several for themselves.
While many factors contributed to the victory won by the Prince of Flowers, there is no doubt the Buccaneer is one of the pillars on which he plans to build his empire.
Fred Diamond is a real pilot's pilot. Often found stomp'n enemies in his triple rainbow formation, Fred could often be found hanging out in the Slaughter House 5 clubhouse, hanging out with his fellow pilots. Suspiciously, his fellow pilots called him the "GodFather", one can only wonder what the deeper meaning behind that really means, but what we do know is that Fred was a great pilot and a clan member held in high esteem.
Terry Harper has had his Buccaneer as point mecha in his 40 ton max formation for almost as long as he has owned it. He makes a point to keep it up to date with the best and newest equipment available. The heavily customized Buccaneer boasts excellent equipment that enhances the built in profile of the mecha. Speed, Dodge and Precision are all present along with a deadly suite of Blue Dragon lasers for maximum firepower. While he is modest about his skills with the Buccaneer, Terry is the ONLY pilot to finish in the top 10 of a King of the Mountain event while driving a Buccaneer as his point mecha in Division 6 or higher competition. Not only does he hold a unique title for this accomplishment, he has accomplished this feat four times.

A strong weapon for new pilots. The Achilles Beam's aim has turned the tide in many battles, sometimes taking down much larger Mechs.
