Melech

Certain events in the mecha universe reverberate in ways no mecha pilot can ignore. The endless hunting of the Maw, the storied battle against mecha Santa, and the galactic takeover attempts of the demented Doctor Drake offer a call for all pilot, veteran and rookie alike, to take arms against a sea of injustice; and by opposing, end them. Events like that result in both bodies piling up, as well as heroes being made. Indeed, no individual, mecha pilot or not, can avoid hearing of such dangers and tragedies.

For the mecha pilots themselves, however, one event overshadows them all. While the flashy violence and bombastic nature of galactic attacks will draw the attention of citizens across the galaxy, it is creation, not destruction, that truly draws the attention of the experienced mecha pilot. Few moments of creation are quite as spectacular as when the mysterious mecha engineers, simply known as the “Craftsmen,” unveil a new mecha.

In that regard, The Melech is the latest creation from the Craftsmen. The Craftsmen are no mere merchants, indeed, “merchant” may simply be an inappropriate word. As is tradition, the Melech cannot be bought, it can only be won. The Craftsmen do not select those who can pilot their mecha by who simply possesses the most nodes; the Craftsmen insist that only the most skilled of pilots can properly wield their creations. In that spirit, the Melech has become the standard prize going forward for King of the Mountain matches; the only way in which such an elite mecha can be obtained. Even seeing such a mecha on the opposite side of battle is a poor sign, since one can be certain a pilot of extreme skill is inside.

True to the Craftsmen’s reputation, the Melech does not disappoint. The Melech naturally comes with multiple methods to enhance the power of its weaponry, as a full two out of every three shots will be empowered in some way. At its most devastating the Melech is capable of eliminating an enemy mecha with a single shot, and even lesser shots can still double or triple standard weaponry damage output. The Melech is a generalist, and no weapon type is favored, allowing a staggering amount of customization options for skilled pilots. Additionally some shots have been rumored to be so powerful as to pierce the targeted mecha, and take out enemies standing behind the true target (As such it is recommended to only fire into enemy groups and ensure friendlies are not attempting any surprise assaults.)

The Melech possesses an upgrade of the Nephilax’s famous “Eye” A.I. This system enhances the Melech’s targeting abilities, enhancing it’s ability to hit its target with any shot. Rumors even abound that the system is so advanced it can make it seem like the opponent is moving in slow motion, allowing for truly precise shots that cause far reaching damage. The “Eye” Also enhances the mecha responsiveness to an almost impossible level, with the Melech able to engage in intense bursts of speed that allow it to outmaneuver enemy shots.
