Deep within the endless and forgotten laboratories of Star Factories, there once existed a scientist by the name of Doctor Osprey. While he was the keeper of several doctorates in engineering and computer science, his hobby and passion was archeology. In the post-Earth years, anthropology and archeology experienced a resurgence in popularity, in an attempt to expand higher learning, evolutionary history, and cultural sensitivity.

Doctor Osprey's passion was in studying birds of prey. In particular, he conducted several experiments in developing mech exoskeletons capable of mimicking their movement and predatory patterns. His studies of the ancient dinosaur fossils Achillobator and Utahraptor laid the groundwork for the terrifying creation that is the Sever mech. The Doctor equipped these mech designs with freezing armaments, making them even more effective for hunting and tracking down prey.

Fortunately for the rest of the unsuspecting galaxy, Doctor Osprey died of undiagnosed illness, his work unfinished.

During one of its many consolidations, Star Factories employees uncovered a behemoth of one of these predator mechs.

The potential opportunities for profit were enormous, the Star Factories executives decided. Finishing the great machine, they equipped it with a top-of-the-line shoulder-mounted freeze cannon and niode-servo motors to power its massively-powerful legs.

In combat simulations, the Sever mech presented a unique new method to engaging enemy forces. The niode motors more than compensated for its massive size, and when used in tandem with its shoulder-mounted freeze cannon, the Sever could quickly immobilize and take down any target it was presented with. Once it gathered enough momentum, it was a hit-and-run beast with few equals in combat.

Osprey's work is iconic, and ironically, considered to be taboo among many mech engineers. The synthesis of beast and machine is considered to be too fearful, too powerful, to be reproduced on any large scale.

Legendary Pilots

  Cher Lee

  Cher “TorHel” Lee became infamous for riding at the forefront of his impressive mecha squadron on his Sever class mecha, Witch’s Titty, that was rigged with a set of illegally-upgraded niode-infused chassis. A shady character, even his clanmates say he is just as likely to stab you in the back as he is to shake your hand, and he is well known to trample on friend and foe alike to get to the top of the mountain. A skilled tactician, Lee is always on the hunt for the next colony seeking mercenary aid—though whether he will decide to destroy their foes or burn them to the ground is anyone’s guess. He lives by a simple motto: “Rules? What rules? I plan to win.”

  Smurf Brigade champion, his Sever anchors his rear line and has a well-earned reputation for putting others dreams of victory on ice. Dancing across the battlefield to the pounding of its external speakers, Dree’s Sever has put the frosting on many a Smurf victory.

  Randy Taylor

  As of today a new legend is being told: Randy Jaye Taylor has become renowned as a legendary pilot of the 75 ton Sever Class Mecha. Taylor has seen combat as early as the 10th clan war of 3276, and has piloted his noble Sever for a galactic century. The Sever plays into Taylor strengths, for despite it's size the mecha is surprisingly nimble. The brain child of now deceased Doctor Osprey of Star Factories, the Sever was designed after birds of prey to be faster, and more nimble than it's competitors. Coupled with the mecha's penchant for ice and freeze based attacks, Taylor can be seen running (or rather flying) literal circles around his opponents as he weakens their resolve before going in for the finishing blow. For those familiar with history, Taylor's master of the Sever comes as no surprise. Taylor is not only famous for his mastery of the Luison 45 ton class mecha, but he had the distinction of leading the mythical "Clan Exiles" where he commanded some of the most famous personalities in the mecha galaxy including the feared Drake Novum. Taylor hardened his battle prowess fighting alongside, and leading, some of the most capable pilots in the galaxy against impossible odds; having stood against the legendary Drochah multiple times. Indeed, for a period of time Taylor's galactic "day-to-day" was fighting fantastical monsters with illustrious heroes and anti-heroes by his side. Such leadership challenges have prepared him well for his current role, where he is the senior pilot of the Clan Pink Fluffy Unicorns Dancing on Rainbows!!! Many a cocky mecha pilot has meet his downfall, failing to appreciate the power and resources that lurk behind a disarming name. Taking a step back form leadership in his current Clan, Taylor trains and educates his fellow pilots to mold them in fierce fighting machines, capable of seizing victory where other clans would find naught but defeat. With a mighty battle cry of "Fear the Fluffies" Taylor and his clan charge into battles with a total abandonment of fear. One thing is certain, victory or defeat, Taylor's legend will continue to grow throughout the mecha galaxy.
