Human scientists had already begun to reverse-engineer Drocha's dino-mech technology based upon what people had found at Yomi reefs. Drocha's inhuman intelligence enabled him to construct mechs unlike what human engineers had been able to develop: strong and fast, harnessing the power of niodes in new and astonishing ways. Studying Drocha's mecha have advanced mecha technology significantly, though many of his mech configurations remain impossible for human industry to reproduce.
Most fascinating of all to mecha engineers is Drocha’s personal mech, clearly modeled after the Tyrannosaurus rex. No one knows if Drocha chose the design for a practical reason or simply because of the symbolism of the T-rex as a “tyrant lizard king”, but the design is known to be as terrifying on the field of battle as its dinosaur equivalent must have been when it walked the Earth. The first recorded survivor of an encounter with it reported: “had you seen that monster Drochah was piloting, even for just a second, you’d know none of those boys are coming home.”
The mech has proved to be matchless in the field, with its powerful frame and staggering laser firepower. In early encounters, Drocha successfully took out entire squads of human-piloted mechs with ease. Even mecha squads who have prevailed against Drocha’s army speak of the Regis mech with awe.
Since those early encounters, a handful of mechs of this design have been recovered from encampments held by Drocha’s movement. Efforts to reverse-engineer the mech’s systems have failed, but Cyberstorm scientists have been able to power up some of these recovered mechs and make them usable by human mech pilots despite an imperfect understanding of exactly how they work.
Even after modification by human engineers, the Regis is said to be a daunting beast to drive, both because of how responsive it is (despite its mass) and because interfacing with the neural circuitry originally constructed for Drocha’s Forerunner brain is apparently... disconcerting.
Germán has proven himself to be analytical pilot and is often seen fighting in King of the Mountain events and Circuit Fights with his terrifying Regis, Excalibur. He is also well known for his robust sense of humor. The comic strips he distributes through the Galaxy Gathering news site are entertaining, but they have also been used to save the galaxy from foreign threats. When Xerxes besieged the remote Clarke Federation during the Faction War of 3308, Germán quietly infiltrated Xerxes' forces to gather intel on the enemy's strength and formations. He then transmitted this data to his clan through coded messages contained in seemingly innocuous comics. Unaware of the intel leak, Xerxes' forces were taken by surprise and routed. Germán and Excalibur are a formidable pair and when they attack, it's no laughing matter.
Gary 'The Specialist' Allsop Mechathalon master and test pilot to The Brotherhood. Highly proficient in all classes of specialist combat, it is said he can bend any mech to his will. Whilst on a routine recon mission to Yomi Reefs, excited transmissions from Cyberstorms 5th company were intercepted and upon further investigation an unguarded shipment of Regis were deftly lifted by this cunning pilot.
This veteran and bizarre pilot is as cunning in the wiles of combat as embittered by the countless wounds received in the innumerable battles he has fought, first as a pilot of the Hegemony and later as a mercenary. Known to despise the medivac and regenerative containers, preferring treatments of traditional pre-gateway medicine, so his body is a tangle of old scars that he exhibits with disdainful pride.
He was the first to find and test a Regis Mech class from all those found in Yomi during the year 3287, whose first model still retains, after having customized it as many times as scars keeps in his body. At the controls of his Regis, Metallic Behemoth, he has paraded by some of the most prestigious mercenary clans, to finally settle in Warlock, long time champion on First Division.
Get away from his raging Regis if you cross his path, because his combat style is dangerous and bitter, always willing to share his eternal pain with his enemies, always ready to return one by one the scars received.
There are brash pilots, and there are old pilots. However there are few brash, old pilots.
To become one you need either the constant attention of lady luck who normally is a fickle mistress at best, a great team or extraordinary skills.
Whether Brian Vaughan has somehow managed to keep lady luck constantly in his lap shall remain unsaid, but he surely has been a part of some great teams. One war Gold alongside the old RND, another as part of the AFF early in his career, before he joined the Dragon family.
That is not to say he leans on his brothers in arms. When war is at the flashpoint he shoulders his share and more, and leads by example.
He is a also a regular terror in the KOTM tournaments, and his collection of more than two score Nephilaxes witness his lethal effectiveness among all ranges of Mech warfare.
In addition to combat skills he is an able administrator, and his deep understanding makes him a much treasured source of knowledge among his team mates.
